Safe-listing your internal mail servers with the Service Management Portal

A very important and sometimes overlooked step in the deployment process for Live@edu is the IP safe-listing process.  This process helps ensure proper mail delivery from your internal mail systems to users hosted on the Outlook Live service.  Safe-listing is accomplished by submitting public IP addresses used by your mail servers and mail gateways.  Admittedly, some colleges and universities are large and have many mail systems, and thus many IP addresses that will need to be safe-listed.   The Service Management Portal (SMP) allows Live@edu customers to manage the safe-listing process, keeping track of safe-listed IP addresses and allowing customers to add/change/delete those addresses as needed.

To illustrate, I’ve provided a brief video demonstration of using the SMP to complete the safe-listing process.
